Guided tour of Villa Carlotta: the villa, works of art and gardens
Her Highness, Princess Carlotta, takes us on a tour of the Villa and Park that still bear her name. We explore the mansion and gardens with her eyes, those of a young bride excited about the wedding gift she got from her mother and the plans for the future she envisions with her beloved husband, Duke George II of Saxony-Meiningen. We will compare together the appearance of the lakeside residence as Carlotta first saw it, with what it later became instead, thanks to the intervention and imagination of Duke George, who transformed the Villa and its Park over the years into a splendid theatrical setting overlooking the lake.
